Method
Smoothie Base
Prepare matcha
Sift or whisk 1.5 tsp matcha powder with 2 tbsp (30 ml) of the almond milk until smooth and no clumps remain. This prevents gritty matcha in the smoothie.
Blend
Secure the blender lid and blend on medium-high for 45–60 seconds, or until completely smooth and uniformly green with a purple tint from the blueberries. Pause and scrape down the sides once if needed.
Optional Boosts & Garnish
If using chia seeds, stir 1 tsp ground chia into the finished smoothie and let sit 2–3 minutes to thicken slightly, or blend them in for an extra uniform texture.
If you used fresh (not frozen) blueberries or want a colder drink, add 1/2 cup ice to the blender during the blending step and blend until smooth.
Pour the smoothie into a 16-ounce glass. Garnish with 6 fresh blueberries and a light dusting (about 1/4 tsp) of matcha powder on top.
Serve immediately with a straw. Stir before drinking if chia was added and has settled.
