For Matcha Preparation

Method

Preparation Steps

1

Prepare Matcha

In a bowl, sift the matcha powder to remove any clumps.

2

Add Hot Water

Pour the hot water over the matcha powder. The water should be around 175°F (80°C).

3

Whisk

Using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a regular whisk, whisk the matcha in a zigzag motion until it is frothy and well combined.

4

Heat Milk

In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling. Alternatively, froth the milk using a frother.

5

Combine

Pour the whisked matcha into a mug and add the sweetener. Stir until combined, then add the warm milk and mix well.

6

Serve

If making iced matcha, add ice to a glass, pour the matcha mixture over the ice, and stir well.
