Cocktail
- 1
Prepare glass
Place a large ice cube or a few fresh ice cubes into an Old Fashioned (rocks) glass and set aside to chill while you build the cocktail.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice, add 2 oz Litchfield rye whiskey, 0.5 oz fresh orange juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 0.25 oz Luxardo (maraschino cherry liqueur), and 3 dashes Angostura bitters.

- 4
Strain
Discard any water from the chilled serving glass if needed, then strain the cocktail over the prepared large ice cube in the Old Fashioned glass.
- 5
Garnish and express
Express the oils of the orange peel over the drink by holding the peel skin-side down above the glass and giving it a firm twist, then rub the peel around the rim and drop it in. Add the Luxardo cherry as a garnish on a pick or dropped into the glass.
- 6
Serve immediately. Optionally, offer a short straw for sipping but traditionally served without.
