Preparation

1

Prepare the Bread

Take 4 slices of Texas toast and lay them flat on a clean surface.

2

Assemble the Cheese

Place 1 slice of American cheese and 1 slice of Swiss cheese on top of 2 of the Texas toast slices.

Cooking

3

Add the Top Slice

Place the remaining 2 slices of Texas toast on top of the cheese-covered slices to form two sandwiches.

4

Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on the top of each sandwich.

5

Heat the Pan

Heat a frying pan over medium heat until hot.

6

Grill the Sandwiches

Carefully place the sandwiches butter-side down in the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden brown.

7

Butter the Other Side

While the first side is grilling, spread the remaining tablespoon of butter on the top side of the sandwiches.

8

Flip the Sandwiches

Once the bottom is golden brown, flip the sandwiches over, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the other side is also golden brown and the cheese has melted.

Serving

9

Slice and Serve

Once cooked, remove the sandwiches from the pan, slice them in half if desired, and serve warm.
