1

Prepare glass

Preheat a heatproof glass or mug by rinsing briefly with hot water, then discard the water. This keeps the drink warm longer.

2

Sweeten coffee

Place 1 teaspoon brown sugar into the warmed glass. Pour about 2 tablespoons of the hot coffee over the sugar and stir until fully dissolved.

3

Build cocktail

Add 1.5 oz tequila and 1 oz Kahlúa to the glass. Pour the remaining hot coffee (about 3/4 cup) into the glass and gently stir to combine.

4

Prepare cream float

In a small bowl or jar, lightly whisk 2 tablespoons heavy cream with a pinch of ground cinnamon until just slightly thickened but still pourable (do not whip to peaks).

5

Finish and garnish

Carefully pour the lightly whipped cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the coffee. Garnish with a light dusting of cinnamon and an optional orange twist expressed over the drink and set on the rim.

6

Serve immediately while hot. Stir the cream into the coffee as you drink for a rich, layered Mexican Coffee.
