1

Sanitize bottle (if reusing)

If you are using a reusable bottle, wash it thoroughly with warm water and dish soap, scrub the interior and cap, then rinse well. For extra sanitation, fill with hot water for 1–2 minutes or run through the dishwasher (top rack) and allow to cool slightly before use.

2

Prepare water

If using a sealed commercial bottle, check the seal is intact and the water is within its use period. If using tap water, ensure it is potable; if desired, filter or boil and cool before bottling.

3

Add water to bottle

Pour or transfer 500 ml of potable still water into the clean bottle, leaving a small air gap (about 1–2 cm) at the top to allow for expansion if chilled.

4

Optional: chill with ice

If you prefer cold water, add up to 4 ice cubes into the bottle or chill the filled bottle in a refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. If you added ice and plan to store, be aware melting will dilute slightly.

5

Optional: flavor

For a mild citrus note, drop in a single lemon wedge or slice. Ensure the lemon is washed before use. This is optional and will slightly alter flavor.

6

Cap and label

Secure the cap tightly to prevent spills. If you prepared or bottled the water yourself, label the bottle with the preparation date. Store chilled or at room temperature out of direct sunlight.

7

Serve

Open the cap when ready to drink. Pour into a glass if desired or drink directly from the bottle. Consume homemade bottled water within 24–48 hours if kept refrigerated; commercial sealed bottles can be stored according to the manufacturer's guidance.
