Smoothie Base

Method

Smoothie Base

1

Prepare fruit

If using frozen whole strawberries, cut any large ones in half so they blend evenly. Peel half a ripe banana and break into 2–3 chunks for easier blending.

2

Measure liquids and sweetener

Measure Greek yogurt, water and/or almond milk. If substituting almond milk for the listed water (customer pays +$1.50), use 3/4 cup almond milk total; otherwise use 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup yogurt as listed. Add honey or agave and vanilla extract.

3

Load blender

Into a high-speed blender add frozen mixed berries (1.5 cups), banana pieces, Greek yogurt (0.5 cup), cold water (0.5 cup) or almond milk (0.75 cup) depending on choice, honey (1 tbs), vanilla (1/4 tsp), and chia (1 tsp) if using. Add 4 ice cubes if you want a thicker, frostier texture.

4

Blend to desired consistency

Start blender on low for 10–15 seconds to break up solids, then increase to high and blend 30–45 seconds until smooth and velvety. Stop and scrape down sides with a spatula if needed, then blend another 10–15 seconds. Target a thick but pourable consistency.

5

Taste and adjust

Taste the smoothie. Add an extra 1 tbs honey or a splash (1–2 tbs) almond milk if it’s too tart or too thick. Blend briefly (5–10 seconds) to incorporate adjustments.

Garnish / Finish

6

Pour smoothie into a 16 oz glass or cup, leaving a little headroom for garnish.

7

Top with fresh berries, sprinkle toasted almond flakes (if using) and finish with a mint leaf for aroma.

8

Serve immediately with a straw. If almond milk was requested as the milk choice, note the +$1.50 charge on the ticket.
