1

Prepare glass

Chill an old-fashioned or lowball glass by filling it with ice and set aside while you mix the drink (about 1–2 minutes).

2

Toast almonds (optional)

If using fresh almonds for garnish, heat a small dry skillet over medium heat. Add 1 teaspoon flaked or sliced almonds and toast, stirring constantly, until fragrant and lightly golden, about 1–2 minutes. Transfer to a plate to cool.

3

Mix drink

Discard the ice from the chilled glass. Add 2 fl oz amaretto and 1 fl oz heavy cream (or half-and-half) into a cocktail shaker filled with the ice. Secure the lid.

4

Shake

Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is cold and the cream is well aerated and slightly frothy.

5

Strain and serve

Strain the mixture into the chilled old-fashioned glass over fresh ice (one large cube or 4–5 small cubes) or serve neat over no ice if preferred.

6

Garnish

Sprinkle the toasted flaked almonds on top (about 1 teaspoon) or float a few whole toasted almond slices. Serve immediately.
