Rat Tail Cocktail (single serving)
Method
Rat Tail Cocktail (single serving)
Muddle cherries
Place the pitted fresh or frozen cherries in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Add the simple syrup and use a muddler (or the back of a spoon) to firmly mash the cherries until they release juice and become broken down (about 20–30 seconds).
Add spirits and citrus
Add the vodka, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lemon juice to the shaker with the muddled cherries.
Shake with ice
Fill the shaker with ice (about 3/4 full or roughly 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold.
Strain into glass
Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled highball or Collins glass filled with fresh ice using a cocktail strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove cherry solids. If you prefer more fruit texture, use a single strainer.
