If the beer is not already chilled, place the unopened can or bottle in a refrigerator for at least 2 hours or an ice-filled cooler for 15–20 minutes until it reaches about 35–40°F (1.5–4.5°C). For very fast chilling, submerge the sealed beer in an ice-water-salt bath for 6–8 minutes.

Chill beer (if not already cold)

If using a glass, rinse it briefly with cold water and place it in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice cubes to chill. Dump the ice just before pouring if you used it for chilling. A chilled pilsner or pint glass helps maintain carbonation and keeps the beer colder longer.

Prepare glass

Open the can or bottle using the appropriate opener.
