Method

Make & Serve

1

Chill glass

Place a shot glass or small cordial glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink. A chilled glass keeps the drink cooler longer and helps presentation.

2

Prepare ice and shaker

Fill a cocktail shaker or mixing glass halfway with ice (about 1 cup). This chills the liqueurs quickly when shaken briefly.

3

Add base liqueur

Pour 1.5 oz peach schnapps into the shaker. Peach schnapps is the bright fruity base and should be the largest measure.

4

Add coffee layer

Add 0.5 oz Kahlúa to the shaker. This gives a coffee depth that contrasts with the peach.

5

Add cream layer

Add 0.5 oz Irish cream liqueur to the shaker. The Irish cream will combine slightly but will remain creamy and create the signature 'brainy' swirls when layered/poured.

6

Optional strength and cream

If you want a stronger drink, add 0.5 oz vodka. For a slightly creamier mouthfeel, add a 0.25 oz splash of heavy cream or half-and-half.

7

Shake briefly

Cap the shaker and shake only 6–8 seconds—just long enough to chill and slightly mix the liqueurs without fully homogenizing the Irish cream. Over-shaking will ruin the 'brain' texture.

8

Prepare glass

Empty the chilled shot glass of any ice water. If you used a shot glass, you can optionally rinse the inside with a few drops of peach schnapps for extra aroma; discard any excess.

9

Strain and layer

Strain the contents of the shaker into the chilled shot glass. Pour steadily but gently so the Irish cream can create slow curds and swirls in the peach schnapps and Kahlúa. The visual 'brain' effect forms as the cream coagulates slightly in the liqueurs.

10

Garnish & serve

Garnish with a maraschino cherry on a pick if desired. Serve immediately as a shooter. Advise guests to sip slowly to appreciate the layered flavors and texture.
