Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into thin strips. Soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

2

Prepare the Garlic Butter

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Add minced garlic and let it infuse for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking

3

Cook the French Fries

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels. Fry in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, then season with salt.

4

Cook the Steak

Season the flat iron steaks with salt and black pepper on both sides. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steaks and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. During the last minute of cooking, drizzle the garlic-infused butter over the steaks.

Serving

5

Plate the Dish

Serve the seared steak alongside the French fries. Drizzle any remaining garlic butter over the steak for extra flavor.
