Cake Preparation
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Incorporate Boiling Water
Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin). Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
Bake the Cakes
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool Cakes
Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans to a wire rack to cool completely.
Raspberry Coulis Preparation
Blend and Strain
Blend the mixture until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds. Let cool.
Assembly
Layer the Cake
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of raspberry coulis on top, then add the second cake layer.
Serve
Drizzle additional raspberry coulis over the top and around the plate. Garnish with fresh berries before serving.
