Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a Collins glass or highball in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Four Roses Bourbon, 3 oz chilled sweet tea, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Add enough ice to nearly fill the shaker (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds until well chilled and slightly frosty.

  4. 4

    Prepare serving glass

Discard ice water from the chilled Collins/highball glass if used and fill the glass with fresh ice (large cubes or crushed ice per preference).

  5. 5

    Strain and serve

Double-strain the cocktail from the shaker into the prepared glass over fresh ice to remove small ice shards and any pulp.

  6. 6

    Garnish and finish

Express a lemon wheel over the drink to release oils, then drop it in as garnish. Optionally tuck a mint sprig beside the lemon. Serve with a straw if desired.

  7. 7

Enjoy: Serve immediately while cold. Adjust sweetness by increasing or decreasing the simple syrup or sweet tea ratio to taste.
