Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer or fill it with ice and cold water while you build the drink to chill.

2

Add the Tanqueray gin, fino sherry, Cocchi Americano, Amaro Nonino, and black walnut bitters into a mixing glass or cocktail tin.

3

Fill the mixing glass with ice—enough to come near the top—and stir gently but deliberately for 20–30 seconds (about 30–40 revolutions) until the mixture is well chilled, slightly diluted, and properly integrated. Aim for a clear, slightly viscous texture.

4

Discard ice/water from the chilled serving glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe/Nick & Nora using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer (or a julep strainer and fine sieve) to remove small ice shards.

Garnish & Finish

5

Take an orange peel and hold it skin-side toward the drink about 4–6 inches above the surface. Give it a firm twist to express the orange oils over the cocktail, then run the rim of the glass with the peel and drop it into the drink or set it on the rim as a decorative flake.

6

Serve immediately. Note: The balance is spirit-forward with floral/briny notes from the fino, citrus bitterness from Cocchi Americano, and a dry, slightly bitter herbal finish from Amaro Nonino. Adjust black walnut bitters by ±1 dash to taste.
