Fried Shrimp

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a medium bowl, combine the buttermilk and eggs. Add the shrimp and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Coat the Shrimp

After marinating, remove the shrimp from the buttermilk mixture and let the excess drip off. Dredge the shrimp in the flour mixture, ensuring each piece is well-coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the shrimp to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve hot with bangin' bayou sauce on the side.
