Method

For the Nashville Hot Chicken

1

Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken thighs and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

2

Prepare the Coating

In another bowl, mix flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

3

Fry the Chicken

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade, coat in flour mixture, and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.

For the French Toast

4

Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.

5

Cook the French Toast

Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

For the Maple Bourbon Sauce

6

Make the Sauce

In a small saucepan over low heat, combine maple syrup, bourbon, and butter. Stir until butter is melted and sauce is smooth.

To Serve

7

Assemble the Dish

Place a piece of Nashville hot chicken on top of a slice of French toast, drizzle with maple bourbon sauce, and serve immediately.
