Preparation Instructions

1

Prepare the Brown Buttered Popcorn Fat-Washed Rye

In a saucepan, melt unsalted butter until it turns brown and develops a nutty aroma. Pour over cooked popcorn in a bowl and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to separate the fat from the popcorn. Allow the fat to solidify in the fridge, then mix with rye whiskey and let it sit for 24 hours. Strain again to remove solids.

2

Make the Torched Dill Syrup

Combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan and heat until dissolved. Add fresh dill and use a culinary torch to lightly char the dill until fragrant. Let it steep for 30 minutes, then strain the syrup and store in the refrigerator.

3

Mix the Cocktail

In a mixing glass, combine the bourbon, Hennessy VS, fat-washed rye, torched dill syrup, Angostura bitters, and chocolate bitters. Fill the glass with ice and stir well to chill and dilute the mixture.

4

Serve

Strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or rocks glass. Garnish with a sprig of torched dill or a popcorn kernel for a whimsical touch.
