Method
Frisco sauce
- 1
Make the sauce
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, sweet pickle relish, onion powder, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well blended. Taste and adjust seasoning (add a pinch more sugar or a drop more ketchup if you prefer sweeter). Set aside.

Assemble sandwich
Flip the bread so the unbuttered sides face up. Spread about half of the prepared Frisco sauce on one slice (interior). Layer the corned beef evenly over the sauce, arranging so meat covers the bread. Top the corned beef with the Swiss cheese slices, then place the dill pickle chips on the cheese. Add the American cheese slice on top of pickles for extra melt. Spread the remaining Frisco sauce on the interior of the other slice of bread, then place it sauce-side down to close the sandwich (buttered sides should be facing out).

Cook the sandwich
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-low to medium heat. When warm, place the sandwich in the pan, buttered side down. Cook for 3–4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt. Gently press the sandwich with a spatula or with a heavy pan for even contact. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side for another 3–4 minutes until golden brown and cheese is fully melted. If the bread browns too quickly before the cheese melts, lower the heat and cover the skillet for 1–2 minutes to trap heat and finish melting.

Rest and serve
Transfer the sandwich to a cutting board and let rest for 1 minute. Slice in half on the diagonal. If using, add shredded lettuce and tomato slices to the sandwich halves or serve them on the side. Serve immediately while hot.
