Coffee Base

Spirits & Liqueur

Garnish (optional)

Method

Coffee Base

  1. 1

    Preheat glass

Pour hot water into the serving glass to warm it. Let sit 30 seconds then discard the water and dry the glass.

  2. 2

    Brew coffee

Brew 1 cup of very hot strong coffee so it reaches near-boiling temperature when poured (freshly brewed drip or French press).

  3. 3

Add the brewed hot coffee (about 1 cup) to the warmed glass and stir in 1 tsp granulated sugar until fully dissolved.

Spirits & Liqueur

  1. 4

Pour 1.5 oz Jameson Irish whiskey into the sweetened hot coffee and stir gently to combine.

  2. 5

Add 0.5 oz Baileys Irish Cream and stir once more to integrate the liqueur with the coffee and whiskey.

Cream Topping

  1. 6

Lightly whip 2 tbsp heavy cream until it thickens slightly but remains pourable (soft ribbon stage). Do not over-whip; the cream should float on the coffee.

  2. 7

Hold a spoon just above the coffee surface, inverted spoon back toward the glass rim, and gently pour the cream over the back of the spoon so it floats as a distinct layer on top of the coffee.

Garnish (optional)

  1. 8

Finish with a light dusting of freshly grated nutmeg or cocoa powder over the cream (about 1/4 tsp) if desired.

  2. 9

Serve immediately. Instruct guests to drink the coffee through the cream layer for the classic experience.
