Long Island Iced Tea - Alcohol & Mixers

Garnish & Optional Add-ins (everything-but-the-kitchen-sink vibe)

Method

Prepare & Mix

  1. 1

    Fill shaker

Fill a cocktail shaker or large mixing glass halfway with ice (about 1 cup) to chill and slightly dilute the drink.

  2. 2

    Add spirits and sweet/sour

Pour vodka 0.5 oz, white rum 0.5 oz, gin 0.5 oz, tequila 0.5 oz, triple sec 0.5 oz, freshly squeezed lemon juice 0.75 oz, and simple syrup 0.5 oz into the shaker.

  3. 3

    Shake

Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 8–12 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

Assemble & Finish

  1. 4

    Prepare glass

Fill a highball or collins glass with fresh ice (use more ice than in the shaker so the drink stays cold).

  2. 5

    Strain

Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over the fresh ice.

  3. 6

    Top with cola

Top the glass with approximately 2 oz (about a splash to 1/4 cup) of cola to give the characteristic iced-tea color and a touch of bitterness.

  4. 7

    Optional bitters

If using, add 1–2 dashes of Angostura bitters on top — it layers flavor and takes the edge off sweetness.

  5. 8

    Garnish

Garnish with a lemon wedge on the rim and a mint sprig if desired. Serve with a straw and a stirrer so drinkers can mix as they sip.
