Roy Rogers

Method

Roy Rogers

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Fill a highball glass (or an appropriate serving glass) with ice cubes until about 3/4 full.

  2. 2

    Add grenadine

Pour 1/2 ounce (about 15 ml) of grenadine syrup directly over the ice so it settles toward the bottom of the glass for a layered look.

  3. 3

    Top with cola

Slowly pour 8 ounces (about 240 ml) of chilled cola over the back of a spoon or gently down the side of the glass to preserve a slight gradient between the cola and grenadine.

  4. 4

    Garnish and finish

Drop one maraschino cherry into the drink and, if desired, squeeze and drop a lime wedge for a touch of brightness (optional). Serve with a straw and stir before drinking if you prefer an even sweetness throughout.
