Method

Prepare glass

  1. 1

    Select glass

Choose a highball or Collins glass (about 10–12 oz capacity). Fill the glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes or crushed ice (approximately 1 cup).

  2. 2

If desired, run a lime wedge around the rim for aroma and a slight citrus note.

Build the drink

  1. 3

Pour 8 oz (about 1 cup) of chilled Sprite over the ice.

  2. 4

Add 1/2 oz grenadine by pouring it slowly down the inside of the glass so it sinks toward the bottom and creates a pink-to-clear gradient.

  3. 5

If using, add 1/4 oz fresh lime juice and give the drink a very gentle stir (1–2 turns) with a bar spoon to slightly integrate the grenadine while preserving the layered look.

Garnish & serve

  1. 6

Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim and drop in a maraschino cherry if desired.

  2. 7

Serve immediately with a straw. Note: encourage the drinker to stir before sipping if they prefer a uniform sweetness.
