Place the bottle of Efes in the refrigerator for at least 2–4 hours prior to serving so it reaches about 3–7°C (37–45°F). If you need it faster, submerge the bottle in an ice-water and salt bath for 20–30 minutes.

Chill beer

Place the glass in the freezer for 15–30 minutes or fill it with ice water for 5 minutes then discard the water. A chilled glass helps preserve foam and keeps the beer colder longer.

Chill glass (optional)

If using a lemon wedge, cut a fresh lemon into wedges. If you prefer a salted rim, spread 1 tsp of salt on a small plate, wet the rim of the chilled glass with the lemon wedge, then roll the rim through the salt to coat lightly.

Prepare garnish (optional)

Hold the bottle at the base and use a bottle opener to remove the cap cleanly. Keep the bottle upright and avoid excessive shaking to preserve carbonation.

Open the bottle

Tilt the chilled glass to about 45 degrees and begin pouring the Efes gently down the side. When the glass is about three-quarters full, slowly tilt it upright and finish pouring down the center to create a 1–2 cm (0.4–0.8 in) head of foam. Adjust pour speed to control foam.

The pour

If you prefer your beer very cold (common for casual outdoor drinking), add up to 1/2 cup of ice to the glass before or after pouring. Note: ice dilutes flavor as it melts and is not traditional in Turkey.

Add ice (optional, not traditional)

Place the lemon wedge on the rim or serve it on the side. Present immediately so the beer is enjoyed at optimal temperature and carbonation.

Sip and enjoy. Discard any unfinished beer left open for more than 24 hours. Drink responsibly and be mindful of local laws and limits.
