Cake Ingredients
Method
Cake Preparation
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined and slightly frothy. Add the vanilla extract.
Combine Mixtures
Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously until fully incorporated.
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift the cocoa powder and salt into the chocolate mixture and gently fold until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool the Cake
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare Ganache and Serve
For the ganache, heat 100g of heavy cream until simmering and pour it over 150g of chopped dark chocolate. Let it sit for a few minutes then stir until smooth. Serve slices of the cake topped with ganache, fresh sliced strawberries, and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
