Strudel Assembly
Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, raisins, and walnuts. Toss well to combine and let sit for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Prepare the Dough
If using store-bought phyllo dough, thaw it according to package instructions. If making dough from scratch, roll it out on a floured surface until very thin.
Assemble the Strudel
Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean work surface. Brush lightly with melted butter. Layer another sheet on top and brush with butter again. Repeat for 5-6 sheets. Spoon the apple filling along one edge of the dough, leaving a margin on the sides. Carefully roll the dough over the filling, tucking in the edges as you go to create a log shape.
Bake the Strudel
Transfer the rolled strudel to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with more melted butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve
Allow the strudel to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm, optionally with a dusting of powdered sugar or a side of vanilla ice cream.
