Prepare the oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Mix dry ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Cut in the butter

Add the cold butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to combine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add milk

Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the milk. Stir gently until just combined.

Knead and shape

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently about 5 times. Pat or roll the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.

Bake

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
