Preparation

Cocktail

1. Prepare glass

Place a single large ice cube in an old-fashioned / rocks glass and set aside to chill the glass slightly.

2. Build and stir

In a mixing glass add 2 oz Booker's Reserve Bourbon, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice and stir with a bar spoon for about 20–30 seconds (roughly 15–20 full turns) until well-chilled and slightly diluted.

3. Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared rocks glass over the large ice cube (use a Hawthorne and fine strainer or just a julep/mesh strainer if preferred).

4. Finish with citrus

Hold the orange peel with the outer (zesty) side facing the drink, give it a firm twist to express oils over the surface, optionally flame the peel briefly over the glass to caramelize oils, then rub the peel around the glass rim and drop it into the drink.

5. Garnish

Add an optional Luxardo or Amarena cherry on top or on a pick and optionally add a light spritz of flamed orange oil for extra aroma. Serve immediately.
