Prepare the Patties

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form them into patties.

Cook the Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Add Cheese

Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to let it melt.

While the cheese is melting, you can toast the burger buns in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, then the cheesy patty, followed by slices of tomato and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
