Our select barrels of chardonnay come from the acclaimed Les Pierres Vineyard, which is located at the southern end of the Sonoma coast appellation.

Remove the bottle from storage and inspect the cork and label. Ensure the bottle has been stored on its side at cellar temperature (50–60°F / 10–15°C) if available. Bring bottle to service temperature if it is too cold or warm.

Inspect & prepare bottle

Ideal serving temperature for Sonoma-Cutrer Les Pierres Chardonnay is 50–55°F (10–13°C). If the bottle is at room temperature, place in an ice bath: fill a bucket or sink with ice and filtered water, submerge the bottle for 10–15 minutes until it reaches the desired temperature. Alternatively, place the bottle in the refrigerator for 90 minutes prior to service.

Chill to service temperature

Use a waiter’s corkscrew or wine key. Cut foil below the lip, remove foil, center screw into cork and extract smoothly. Wipe the bottle lip with a clean napkin to remove any cork fragments.

Open the bottle

This Chardonnay is crafted for balanced aromatics and usually does not require decanting. If you prefer to open the wine 20–30 minutes before service to allow aromatics to broaden, pour gently into a decanter and let rest for up to 30 minutes.

Decant (optional)

Use clean, room-temperature stemmed white wine glasses. If glasses are chilled, allow them to warm slightly so aromas can express. Hold glass by the stem to avoid warming the wine.

Select and prepare glassware

Pour a modest tasting pour for the host or table (about 2–3 oz / 60–90 ml) for evaluation. For service, fill glasses to approximately one-third full (around 5 oz / 150 ml) to allow room for swirling and aroma release. Pour smoothly and avoid splashing.

Pouring

Offer a lemon twist on the side for guests who enjoy a subtle citrus accent — do not place directly in the wine unless requested. Present optional pairings such as lightly toasted baguette slices, mild triple-cream or brie cheese, or shellfish-based small bites that complement the wine’s bright acidity and mineral notes.

Garnish & pairing

Recork the bottle (use original cork or wine stopper) and refrigerate upright. Consume within 3–5 days for best freshness; use a vacuum pump if available to extend life by an extra day or two.
