Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to create fry shapes.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut potato strips in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.
- 3
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the water and lay the potato strips on a clean kitchen towel. Pat them dry thoroughly to remove any excess moisture.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for accuracy.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Season
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.
- 7
Serve
Repeat the frying process with the remaining potato strips. Serve the fries hot as a side dish or snack.
