Method
French Toast Preparation
- 1
Make the Custard
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
- 2
Soak the Bread
Dip each slice of thick-cut bread into the custard mixture, ensuring both sides are well soaked.
- 3
Cook the French Toast
In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Cook the soaked bread slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Set aside.
Candied Pecans Preparation
- 4
Cook the Pecans
In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the pecan halves, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir continuously for about 5-7 minutes until the pecans are golden and caramelized. Remove from heat and let cool.
Caramel Sauce Preparation
- 5
Make the Caramel
In a saucepan, heat the granulated sugar over medium heat until it melts and turns a deep amber color. Remove from heat and carefully stir in the butter and heavy cream until smooth. Set aside.
Bruleed Bananas Preparation
- 6
Prepare the Bananas
Slice the bananas in half lengthwise and place them cut side up on a heat-resistant surface. Sprinkle each half with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar.
- 7
Brulee the Bananas
Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar on the bananas until golden brown. If you don’t have a torch, place the bananas under the broiler for a couple of minutes to achieve the same effect.
