Fried Cheese Curds
Method
Preparation and Cooking
Prepare the Breading
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
Mix the Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk and egg until well combined.
Coat the Cheese Curds
Dip each cheese curd into the wet mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture. Set aside on a plate.
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Cheese Curds
Carefully add the coated cheese curds to the hot oil in batches, frying for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve
Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
