Method
Prep
- 1
Rim the glass
Pour coarse salt or tajin onto a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the outside rim of a rocks or coupe glass, then dip the rim lightly into the salt or tajin to coat. Set glass in the freezer for 2–3 minutes to chill while you mix the cocktail.
- 2
Muddle fruit
Place 6 fresh blackberries into a cocktail shaker. Add 0.5 oz simple syrup and gently muddle until the berries are broken down and release juice but not completely pulverized (about 10–15 seconds).
Mixing
- 3
Add 2 oz 1800 Reposado Tequila, 1 oz Cointreau (or triple sec), and 1 oz fresh lime juice to the shaker with the muddled blackberries. Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 oz) until roughly 3/4 full.
- 4
Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is well-chilled and you hear the ice fully moving. This chills and dilutes the cocktail properly and integrates the blackberry puree.
- 5
Garnish & Serve
- 6
Thread a fresh blackberry onto a cocktail pick and place it on the rim or float it in the drink. Add a lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately.
- 7
Optional: If desired, serve with a small side of extra blackberries or an additional lime wedge for guests to adjust sweetness or acidity.
