Method
Cocktail
Measure and Combine
Add 1.5 oz spiced rum, 1 oz light rum, 0.75 oz triple sec, 0.5 oz velvet falernum, and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice into a cocktail shaker.
Adjust Sweetness (optional)
Taste the combined ingredients by smelling and, if you prefer a sweeter drink, add 0.25 oz simple syrup. If you like more herbal complexity, add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
Shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 6–8 large cubes), secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well chilled.
Prepare Glass
If serving over crushed ice, fill a double old-fashioned glass or tiki mug with crushed or cracked ice. If serving straight up, prepare a chilled coupe or martini glass and set aside.
Garnish & Finish
Garnish with a lime wheel or twist on the rim and optionally a sprig of mint. For a fragrant finish, express a lime peel over the drink by pinching it skin-side down to release essential oils, then rub the rim with the peel before placing it as garnish.
Serve immediately with a short straw if on crushed ice. Enjoy the layered Caribbean flavors of spice, citrus, and almond-clove notes from the falernum.
