Cocktail
Method
Cocktail
Chill glass (optional)
If you prefer a colder drink, place a Collins glass or highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
Combine base ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Pour in 2 oz gin, 1 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup. (To make simple syrup: dissolve equal parts sugar and hot water, cool before using.)
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold and diluted slightly.
Strain over ice
Discard any ice used to chill the glass. Fill the Collins/highball glass with fresh ice (about 1 cup). Strain the shaken mixture into the glass over the ice.
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lemon wheel or wedge and an optional maraschino cherry. Serve immediately with a straw if desired.
