Garnish & Finish

Optional: For a stirred/served-on-rocks variant

Method

Cocktail

1

Shake the cocktail

Add Hine VSOP Cognac, orange liqueur, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and Angostura bitters to a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup).

2

Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.

3

Double-strain the contents into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass (or an old-fashioned glass if preferred).

Garnish & Finish

4

Express an orange twist over the drink: hold the twist with the exterior skin down over the glass and give it a quick squeeze to release the oils, then run the rim of the glass with the twist and drop it into the drink.

5

Optionally, float a thin lemon wheel on the surface for an additional bright aroma.

Optional: Stirred on the rocks variant

6

Stirred variant

If you prefer a smoother, less diluted serving, combine Hine VSOP (2 oz), orange liqueur (0.5 oz), simple syrup (0.25 oz) and 2 dashes bitters in a mixing glass with plenty of ice. Stir for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted, then strain over a single large ice cube in an old-fashioned glass. Express an orange twist and garnish.
