Cocktail Base

Method

Preparation

1

Chill glass (optional)

If desired, place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to keep the drink cold longer.

2

Rim the glass (optional)

If using a sugared rim, rub a lime wedge around the glass rim, then dip lightly into superfine sugar. Set aside.

Mixing & Serving

3

Add the añejo rum, triple sec, fresh lime juice, strawberry purée, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.

4

Add a generous scoop of crushed ice (or about 1 cup of ice cubes) to the shaker. Secure the lid.

5

Shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosted. Vigorous shaking helps aerate the purée and integrate the flavors.

6

If you used large ice cubes, strain the drink through a fine-mesh strainer into the chilled coupe or martini glass over crushed ice, or double-strain into the glass without additional ice for a cleaner presentation.

7

Garnish with a halved fresh strawberry on the rim or a lime wheel floated on top. Serve immediately.

8

Taste and adjust: if the daiquiri is too tart, add an additional 0.25 oz simple syrup and gently stir; if too sweet, add 0.25 oz more fresh lime juice.
