Coffee Base

Method

Coffee Base

1

Brew coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong coffee (or prepare a double-strength drip). If you prefer extra espresso flavor, pull 1 shot of espresso and add to the brewed coffee.

2

Preheat a heatproof mug by rinsing with hot water, then discard the water.

Alcohol & Flavoring

3

Add 1 oz peanut butter whiskey and 1 oz chocolate liqueur to the warmed mug.

Sweetener & Texture

4

In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine 1 tsp creamy peanut butter with 1 tsp hot water and whisk until smooth and pourable. This prevents clumps in the coffee.

5

Stir the loosened peanut butter and 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar syrup (or simple syrup) into the mug with the liqueurs until fully dissolved.

Combine & Heat

6

Pour the hot coffee (and espresso shot if using) into the mug with the alcohol and peanut butter mixture. Stir thoroughly to combine and taste; adjust sweetness with a little more syrup if desired.

Finish & Garnish

7

Whip cream

In a chilled small bowl, whip 1/4 cup cold heavy cream with 1 tsp powdered sugar until soft peaks form. (Alternatively use prepared whipped cream.)

8

Gently spoon or pipe the whipped cream over the top of the hot coffee so it floats.

9

Dust the whipped cream with 1/2 tsp cocoa powder or sprinkle chocolate shavings and 1 tsp crushed roasted peanuts for a crunchy garnish.
