Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare glass
Chill a highball or Collins glass by filling it with ice and set aside while you build the cocktail.
- 2
Mix base
In a mixing glass (or shaker without shaking), add 1.5 oz red bitter (Campari or similar), 1 oz fresh blood orange juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup. Add a handful of ice (about 4-6 large cubes). Stir gently for about 10–15 seconds to chill and slightly dilute the mixture.
- 3
Assemble
Discard the ice from the chilled serving glass and fill the glass with fresh ice (crushed or cubed, about 1 cup). Strain the stirred mixture into the prepared glass over the ice.
- 4
Top and finish
Top the drink with 2.5 oz soda water, pouring gently to preserve carbonation. If using, add a pinch (about 1/4 tsp) of flaked sea salt on top to brighten flavors. Give the cocktail a single gentle stir to combine soda with the base without flattening it.
