Preparation

Pour & Serve

1. Chill glass and beer

If possible, chill the glass in the refrigerator or freezer for 10–20 minutes beforehand. Ensure the Amstel Light bottle or can has been refrigerated and is cold (around 38–45°F / 3–7°C).

2. Optional ice

If you prefer your beer extra cold or are serving outdoors in hot weather, add up to 1/2 cup of crushed ice to the bottom of the chilled glass. Note this will dilute the beer slightly and is not traditional.

3. Open beer

Hold the bottle or can upright and open it carefully to avoid agitating the beer. For a bottle, remove the cap with a bottle opener; for a can, lift the tab fully.

4. The pour

Tilt the chilled glass to about 45 degrees. Pour the Amstel Light gently down the side of the glass until it is about three-quarters full. Slowly tilt the glass upright while continuing to pour to create a 1/2–1 inch (1–2 cm) head of foam. If you added ice, pour slowly to minimize splash.

5. Garnish (optional)

If desired, run the lemon or lime wedge around the rim and drop it into the glass or serve it on the side. This adds a bright citrus note but is optional and nontraditional for an unflavored lager.

6. Serve

Serve immediately while cold. Sip gently to appreciate the light body and mild hop character. Dispose of any leftover ice if it has substantially diluted the beer.
