Massage Oil Blend & Supplies

Method

Massage Oil Blend & Supplies

1

Prepare space

Choose a comfortable, quiet spot with a chair that supports your back. Have the towel, bowl, comb and timer within reach. Remove any jewelry that could catch in hair.

2

Warm the towel

Pour the warm water into the heat-safe bowl, fold the towel and submerge briefly, then wring until damp and comfortably warm (not hot). Place the warm towel over your shoulders to relax the neck and create a calming atmosphere.

3

Measure oil

Place 2 teaspoons of Naturopathica Wild Lime Scalp & Hair Oil into your palm. If you have a sensitive scalp or prefer a lighter application, add 1 teaspoon fractionated coconut or jojoba oil to dilute, and rub palms together to evenly warm and emulsify the oils.

4

Initial application

Tilt your head slightly forward. Use fingertips (not nails) to dab small drops of the warmed oil into a few points across the scalp (forehead line, crown, left temple, right temple, nape). This helps distribute oil before longer strokes.

5

Begin circular massage

Using the pads of your index and middle fingers on both hands, apply gentle pressure and make small circular motions at each of the previously dotted points for 30–45 seconds per point to relieve tension and increase circulation.

6

Effleurage strokes

After circular work, run fingertips from the hairline to the crown in slow, sweeping strokes (effleurage) 6–8 times to encourage oil distribution and lymphatic flow. Keep movements slow and rhythmic to promote relaxation.

7

Temple and temporal arch work

Use thumbs or index fingers to apply gentle pressure in small circular motions to the temples and along the temporal arches for 30 seconds each side to ease headache-prone tension.

8

Zigzag parting strokes

With fingers slightly splayed, move across the scalp in a gentle zigzag path from the front hairline to the nape to stimulate hair follicles and increase circulation. Repeat this pattern 4–6 times, adjusting pressure to comfort.

9

Nape and occipital release

Place fingertips at the base of the skull (occipital ridge) and apply gentle, sustained pressure for 15–20 seconds, then release. Repeat 3 times to relieve neck tension and support relaxation.

10

Comb through and final smoothing

Gently comb or run fingers through hair to evenly distribute remaining oil. Finish with long, slow strokes from scalp to ends using the palm of your hand to smooth the hair and calm the nervous system.

11

Optional warm towel finish

Rewrap the warm towel around your shoulders and lay it lightly over the head for 2–3 minutes (ensure not too hot). This helps oil penetrate and enhances relaxation.

12

Aftercare

If leaving oil overnight, protect bedding with a towel. To remove, shampoo as usual in the morning. If you prefer a light application, you may towel-blot excess oil and style as normal.

13

Timing

Perform the full routine for 10–20 minutes. Use shorter 5–7 minute sessions for quick relief or longer 20–30 minute sessions for deep relaxation (adjust oil quantity proportionally).
