Method
Infused Base Oils
Choose and measure oils
Measure sweet almond oil, fractionated coconut oil, and grapeseed oil into a heat-safe glass measuring cup or small saucepan. These carrier oils form a nourishing, easily absorbed base for the treatment.
Add the CBD oil to the measured carrier oils. Stir gently to combine. Note: adjust CBD amount according to concentration and desired potency; the recipe uses 1 tablespoon as a reference — calculate final mg per serving if you need a precise dose.
Botanical & Soothing Additions
Melt butter and beeswax
Create a double boiler by placing the heat-safe cup or saucepan into a larger pot of simmering water. Add shea butter and beeswax pellets to the carrier oil mixture and heat gently until fully melted and homogeneous, stirring occasionally. Do not overheat — keep water at a low simmer and remove from heat as soon as melted (target temperature ~60–70°C / 140–158°F).
If using plain moisturizing cream or aloe vera gel to soften the balm, stir it in off heat until incorporated. Add the finely ground colloidal oatmeal and mix thoroughly so it disperses evenly; this adds soothing and anti‑irritant properties.
Essential Oils & Actives
Cool slightly and add actives
Allow the melted mixture to cool for 3–5 minutes but remain pourable (target ~40–45°C / 104–113°F). Add lavender essential oil, peppermint essential oil, tea tree essential oil, and vitamin E oil. Stir for 30–60 seconds to fully incorporate. The peppermint provides a cooling sensation; tea tree adds antimicrobial properties; lavender is soothing.
Taste or smell test is not applicable — perform a small patch test on inner forearm to check for sensitivity to essential oil blend before applying to feet. If irritation occurs, dilute essential oils further or omit the offending oil.
Optional Exfoliant (for prior use)
Make foot scrub
If exfoliating first, combine sea salt or fine sugar with 2–3 tablespoons of one of the carrier oils used above to create a scrub consistency. Stir in lemon zest if desired. Wet feet and rub scrub over heels and soles in circular motions for 2–4 minutes, then rinse and pat dry.
Pouring, Cooling & Use
Pour into containers
While still pourable, transfer the mixture into sterilized jars or tins (4–8 oz jars recommended). Leave a little headspace and cap once cooled. Allow containers to cool undisturbed at room temperature until set — about 1–2 hours.
To use as a treatment: warm a small amount (about 1–2 teaspoons per foot) between your hands or by briefly rubbing the jar with your palms to soften. Massage into feet focusing on heels, soles, and dry areas. For deeper conditioning, apply a generous layer, put on cotton socks, and leave overnight or for 30–60 minutes.
Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Shelf life is typically 6–12 months depending on CBD oil and essential oil quality; use within 6 months for best potency. If you used aloe gel, refrigerate and use within 3 months.
