Base Oils & Butters

Active & Additives

Method

Prepare & Melt

1

Sanitize and measure

Sanitize your work surface, hands, and tools. Measure out the fractionated coconut oil (1 cup), sweet almond oil (1/2 cup), avocado oil (1/4 cup), and shea butter (2 tablespoons).

2

Place the shea butter in a small heatproof bowl or double boiler with the fractionated coconut oil. Warm gently over low heat until the shea butter is fully melted and the mixture is clear and liquid. Do not overheat—keep temperature under 140°F (60°C) to preserve actives.

Combine Oils & Actives

3

Remove the melted base oils from heat. Add the sweet almond oil and avocado oil to the warm mixture and stir to combine thoroughly.

4

Add the aloe vera oil (2 tablespoons) and arnica oil (1 tablespoon) if using. Stir until homogeneous.

5

Allow the mixture to cool slightly but remain warm (around 100–110°F / 38–43°C) before adding temperature-sensitive actives.

6

Measure your CBD dosing: add full-spectrum CBD oil totaling 150 mg CBD. If using a tincture expressed in milliliters, calculate volume according to its concentration to reach 150 mg total. Stir thoroughly to ensure even distribution.

7

Add vitamin E oil (1 teaspoon) and stir. Vitamin E helps preserve the oils and provides skin benefits.

Add Aromatics & Finalize

8

If using essential oils, add 12 drops lavender and 6 drops peppermint to the warm oil blend. Stir well. (Total essential oil concentration here is mild — adjust or omit for sensitive skin.)

9

Taste/smell check (do not ingest): ensure scent strength is comfortable. If too strong, add a teaspoon of base oil to dilute; if too weak, add 1–2 drops more essential oil, respecting safe dilution rates (keep total essential oils under roughly 1% of final volume).

10

Using a funnel if desired, pour the warm oil mixture into a clean dark glass bottle (approx. 8 oz / 240 ml). Leave a little headspace. Cap the bottle and invert gently several times to ensure mixing.

11

Let the oil cool completely to room temperature before first use. Label the bottle with contents, CBD amount, and date made.

Usage & Storage

12

To use: apply a few drops to dry or affected areas and massage gently. For general body use, 1–2 teaspoons applied to limbs or torso is typical. For localized pain, apply a few drops directly to the area and rub in until absorbed.

13

Storage: keep in a cool, dark place. With vitamin E and dark glass packaging, the oil should keep 6–12 months; discard if it smells rancid or changes color/texture.

14

Safety: do a patch test on a small area of skin 24 hours before wide use. Do not apply to broken skin. If pregnant, nursing, or on medication, consult a healthcare provider before topical CBD or essential oil use.
