Coffee Base

Method

Coffee Base

1

Brew coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong hot coffee using your preferred method (drip, French press, or espresso). If the coffee is very strong or concentrated, let it sit a moment; if it’s weaker than desired, stir in up to 1/4 cup hot water to reach 1 cup of serving temperature and strength.

2

Preheat the serving glass or mug by rinsing with hot water and discarding the rinse. This helps keep the drink warm.

Liquors & Sweeteners

3

Combine

Add 1.5 fl oz Baileys Irish Cream and 1 fl oz Kahlúa to the warmed serving mug.

4

If you prefer a sweeter drink, add 1 tsp brown sugar or simple syrup. Stir briefly to dissolve and combine the liqueurs with the sweetener.

5

Pour the hot coffee into the mug over the liqueur mixture. Stir gently for about 10–15 seconds to fully integrate the Baileys and Kahlúa with the coffee, creating a smooth, creamy base.

Toppings & Garnish

6

Finish

Float 2 tbsp lightly whipped heavy cream on top: spoon the cream gently over the back of a spoon held just above the coffee surface so it rests as a layer. Alternatively, use a whipped cream dispenser or canned whipped cream for a thicker crown.

7

Dust 1 tsp grated dark chocolate or a light sprinkle of cocoa powder over the cream.

8

Optional: place a single whole coffee bean on top as a garnish.

9

Serve immediately while hot. Provide a small spoon so the drinker can swirl the cream into the coffee if desired.
