Bottled Drink

Method

Bottled Drink

1

Chill bottle (if needed)

If the Mexican Coke is not already chilled, place the glass bottle in the refrigerator for at least 1–2 hours or submerge it in an ice-water bath for 15–20 minutes until cold to the touch. Serving cold preserves carbonation and balance of sweetness.

2

Prepare glass and ice

Select a tall chilled glass (optional). Fill the glass with about 6 ice cubes or to your desired level. If you prefer fewer ice cubes to avoid quick dilution, use 3–4 larger cubes instead.

3

Open bottle

Inspect the bottle cap for any damage. Hold the bottle upright and use a bottle opener to remove the cap cleanly. Avoid shaking the bottle to preserve carbonation; if bottle was jostled, let it sit upright for 1–2 minutes before opening.

4

Pour and garnish

Tilt the glass at about a 45° angle and pour the Mexican Coke slowly down the side to preserve fizz and minimize foam. Stop pouring when the glass is about 90% full. Squeeze the lime wedge over the top if you like a bright citrus note, then rub the wedge around the rim and drop it into the drink. Add a maraschino cherry if using.

5

Serve

Insert a straw if desired and serve immediately while cold and fizzy. If any remains in the bottle, reseal with a reusable cap or transfer to a small airtight container and refrigerate; consume within 24–48 hours for best carbonation.
