Method

Cooking the Steak

1

Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

2

Heat the Pan

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the steak.

3

Cook the Steak

Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip it. Add garlic and thyme to the pan. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer to reach your desired doneness.

4

Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Making the Mashed Potatoes

5

Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the russet potatoes into chunks. Place them in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

6

Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
