Prepare Glass & Ingredients
Chill a tall glass (12–16 oz / about 350–475 ml) in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. This helps keep the float colder and slows melting.
Scoop the ice cream and sherbet straight from the freezer so they're firm but scoopable. Measure out milk, orange soda, and orange juice. Keep all cold.
Build the Orange Dream Float
Add dairy and flavor
Place 2 scoops vanilla ice cream and 1–2 scoops orange sherbet into the chilled glass. Drizzle the 30 ml fresh orange juice and 1 tsp vanilla extract evenly over the scoops. Gently pour the 60 ml milk (or half-and-half) around the scoops so it settles at the bottom.
Add soda
Slowly pour 240 ml chilled orange soda down the inside of the glass (pouring slowly reduces excessive foaming). If you prefer a lighter, less sweet float, top off with up to 60 ml club soda instead of some of the orange soda. The soda will fizz and create a creamy foam with the ice cream and sherbet.
If foam rises above the rim, pause and allow it to settle briefly before adding more. Use a spoon to gently push a small portion of foam to the side to make room if needed.
Finish & Garnish
Top with the remaining 1 scoop vanilla ice cream if desired for extra creaminess. Sprinkle 1 tsp orange zest over the foam for aromatic brightness.
Garnish the rim with an orange wheel and place a maraschino cherry on top of the foam. Insert a wide straw and a long spoon for easy scooping.
Serve immediately while effervescent and cold. Provide a napkin for minor drips.
