Prepare supplies
Assemble sundaes
Layer base scoops
Remove chilled serving dishes. Using an ice cream scoop, place 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream into each glass (total 4 scoops). Add 1 scoop of chocolate and 1 scoop of strawberry ice cream to each glass (total 2 each) so each sundae has 4 scoops arranged attractively.
Add sauces
Warm hot fudge and caramel slightly if thick (place jars in hot water or heat 15–20 seconds in a microwave-safe bowl). Drizzle 2 tablespoons hot fudge over each sundae (total 4 tbs) and 1 tablespoon caramel over each sundae (total 2 tbs). Spoon 1 tablespoon strawberry sauce over each sundae (total 2 tbs).
Add whipped cream
Pipe or spoon whipped cream on top of each assembled sundae, using about 1/2 cup whipped cream per sundae (total 1 cup), forming a generous cloud on each.
Add crunchy toppings
Sprinkle 1.5 tablespoons chopped roasted peanuts and 1 tablespoon rainbow sprinkles on each sundae (total 3 tbs peanuts and 2 tbs sprinkles). If using crushed chocolate cookies, sprinkle about 1.5 tablespoons per sundae (total 3 tbs).
Garnish and finish
Top each sundae with two maraschino cherries (or one if preferred) and tuck in a cookie or wafer. If using banana, fan or place slices along the side of the bowl before sauces for a banana-split style presentation.
Serve
Serve immediately with long-handled spoons. Provide napkins for sticky fingers. To keep leftovers, transfer any leftover ice cream to an airtight container and refreeze.
