Fried Bread Ingredients

Method

Fried Bread Directions

1

Prepare the Dough

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

2

Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

3

Shape the Bread

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle about 1/4 inch thick.

4

Fry the Bread

In a large skillet, heat melted butter over medium heat. Fry each dough circle for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top while frying.

5

Serve

Remove the fried bread from the skillet and let it drain on paper towels. Optionally, sprinkle with minced garlic and fresh herbs before serving.
